  • [00:00:03] Welcome to ill communication, copywriting tips and sales strategies for small business. I'm your host, Kim Keel. I'm a copy coach, sales strategist, and direct response copywriter. It's my mission to help women leaders and change makers amplify their voices through copy. It's why I'm dishing out all the juicy tips, writing prompts, and sales formulas to help you generate more leads, book more calls, and get more high value clients on repeat. Sounds pretty good. It's time to ditch the overwhelm you might be feeling and find confidence in your copywriting so you can get your message out there and attract more soulmate clients. Let's get started.

[00:00:52] Well. Hello there, and welcome to episode 69 of the Ill Communication Podcast. If I sound a little different today, it's because [00:01:00] I woke up with a cold. My 12 year old son told me this morning that I sound like Miley Cyrus, and I don't believe he's wrong. I had a horrible sleep because I kept waking up asking myself, is my throat sore? Am I sick? Am I getting sick? Which sure doesn't help with getting rest and healing. And on top of that, it's the time of year when we've just set our clocks back an hour, which means it now gets dark around 4:30 p.m. and you wouldn't think that transition of just an hour would make much difference, but that on top of feeling sick, I am feeling tired. The good news is, this theme of time has inspired me to share with you a great writing prompt you can use at any time of the year. It's a writing prompt that is great for creating connection with your audience building. Know, like and trust and delivering value. Plus, it's a lovely and sweet email [00:02:00] to send to your list if you haven't emailed them in a while, like if you've ghosted your list. This is a terrific email to start reengaging. It's just a really elegant way to pop back into the inbox and share what you've been up to. So the prompt is it's that time of year when, as in, it's that time of year when we set our clocks back an hour, or it's that time of year when we're busy planning our Black Friday promotions, or it's that time of year when we're all getting the sniffles.

[00:02:33] It's back to school time, which means. Or it's the new year, which means it's a great time to. And the beauty of this prompt is you really can send it any time of the year, and you can send it multiple times throughout the year with just a few little shifts. When you send the it's that time of year when email you provide value or a strategy to help your [00:03:00] audience do or achieve something during that time of year. So you could write an email saying it's the new Year, which means it's a great time to pause and reflect on our progress over the last year. And then include a few intentions for the coming year. Or it's the middle of November, which means it's a great time to think about what we accomplished this year and think about what we're going to accomplish next year. Or it's April, and with all the newness of spring, it's a great time to check in and make plans for the next season with this email. After you set the tone for the time of year, provide the tips and helpful strategies. Switch into a section where you share what's going on in your own business and life. Share a couple of things that are keeping you busy. What you're working on. It's a great way to give a little update, especially if your audience hasn't heard from you in a while. And then close your email with something like this. Hey, I'd love to hear how you approach this time of year in your business or your life. [00:04:00] If you have any great strategies or tips, please reply and share them with me.

[00:04:05] Now, depending on your business, you could also frame the time of the year email related to the services you deliver. So if you're an accountant or bookkeeper, it's that time of year when we all have to get our receipts ready for your bookkeeper. Here are a few tips for getting organized. If you're a nutrition or wellness coach, it's that time of year when everyone seems to be getting sick. Here are a few things I do and a few supplements I take to give me a little boost whenever I feel under the weather. If you're a business coach, it's that time of year when your clients are busy and distracted. Here are five surprising ways you can get in front of your ideal buyers, even when they're not really paying attention. There is truly no limit to how you can use this writing prompt. So my friend, if you are feeling exhausted with the time change, with the holiday planning, or with the cold that's making its way through your family and you can't think about what to write to your list, this writing prompt is [00:05:00] perfect for you. It's that time of year when it's so versatile. It should inspire a lot of content you can share at different times of the year, even if you've ghosted your list. Well, my friend, that's it for today's episode of the Ill Communication podcast. I'll be back here next week. Maybe I'll still be sounding like Miley Cyrus or Phoebe from that episode of friends, when she loves the sound of her sexy voice. My sticky shoes. My sticky, sticky shoes. That's it for me.
